Job summary

Safe Place for Youth is seeking a Health and Wellness Substance Use Therapist to deliver individual and group therapy focused on substance use and harm reduction. The role supports youth at SPY’s Venice drop-in Center and housing sites, with a goal of improving health, wellness, and community connections.

The position requires a Master’s in a mental health field, relevant licensure or registration in California, and at least two years of clinical experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in a mental health-related field such as Social Work, Psychology, or Counseling.
• Registered as an ASW, AMFT, or APCC or licensed with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS).
• At least 2 years of experience providing direct clinical services.
• Expertise in substance use treatment and harm reduction.
• Knowledge of adolescent and young adult development.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and group therapy with a specialization in substance use and harm reduction.
• Deliver in-person services at Venice, CA drop-in Center and housing sites.
• Develop and facilitate community-building programs and recovery groups.
• Participate in On-Call Clinician rotation and complete risk assessments.
• Document biopsychosocial assessments and treatment plans.
• Collaborate with members to develop goals and trauma-informed interventions.
• Coordinate with external providers to ensure continuum of care.
• Attend community meetings and contribute to SPY programming.
• Provide clinical case management and referrals as needed.
• Complete documentation, outcomes surveys, and reporting in a timely fashion.
