Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Los Angeles is seeking an Instructor for youth programs to create positive, nurturing relationships with children while delivering curriculum focused on skill mastery and belonging.

You will supervise groups, implement age-appropriate activities, and engage with parents/caregivers, promoting inclusion and safety. The role requires 18+, a HS diploma or equivalent, and current First Aid/CPR within 60 days of hire, plus child abuse prevention training.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 18 or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience with school-age children in group settings preferred.
• Ability to plan and implement age-appropriate activities.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Current First Aid, CPR (Adult/Child/Infant) within 60 days of hire.
• Completion of child abuse prevention training prior to first day.
• Y-USA Leader Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Nurture children through purposeful programming and positive guidance.
• Maintain close supervision of groups and adhere to safety ratios.
• Build positive relationships with parents and caregivers.
• Plan and lead activities around specific topics to support skill mastery.
• Attend trainings, staff meetings, and family events as needed.
• Uphold safety, emergency procedures, and reporting requirements.
