Job summary

YMCA of Metropolitan Columbus is seeking a dedicated Youth Sports Program Coordinator to plan and oversee diverse youth activities, ensuring engaging, safe experiences across multiple sports. You will direct schedules, coach training, and field operations while upholding YMCA standards in a dynamic community setting.

You will collaborate with staff and volunteers to promote healthy activity, manage equipment, and support family involvement through orientation meetings and clinics.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years related experience preferred.
• Basic knowledge of Y-related sports (T-Ball, Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Pickleball).
• Must have patience and be able to work with all ages, including children.
• Friendly personality, with sensitivity to others and commitment to program goals.
• Ability to adapt to changing needs and situations.
• Good communication skills.
• Minimum age requirements may apply.
• Completion of YMCA program certifications.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Good math, reading, and computer skills preferred.
• CPR/AED/First Aid certifications required within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Plan, conduct, direct and supervise program activities to meet YMCA objectives.
• Assist in expanding youth sports programs within the community.
• Secure and schedule athletic fields, facilities, and equipment.
• Transport and set up equipment for games and practices; monitor equipment condition.
• Lead setup for activities; ensure program areas are clean and orderly.
• Supervise groups at all times and organize teams, training coaches and officials.
• Develop practice/game schedules; distribute rules and handbooks; coordinate uniforms and photos.
• Assist with program marketing, registrations, and scholarships; participate in committee meetings.
• Build community relationships and compile program statistics; monitor participation and safety.
• Support Youth Sports Director with fundraising and events; address inquiries promptly.
