POSITION SUMMARYDevelops, organizes, implements, and/or oversees high quality youth sports programs.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssists in planning, conducting, directing and supervising program activities to meet YMCA objectives. Assists in Expanding youth sports program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Provides leadership and guidance.Assists in Securing and scheduling athletic fields, program areas and facilities.Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; Maintains and keeps track of all equipment. Monitors condition of equipment, notifies Program Director when repairs or new sporting equipment is needed.Assists in preparation and set up for group activities and with clean up after activity is complete. Keep program areas clean, making sure there is no food or drinks left in the program area; clean all tables, chairs, etc.Provides constant supervision for specific groups at all times.Assists in creating teams from paid and financially assisted registrations. Assists in Organizing and conducting parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.Develops and distributes team practice and game schedules; trains and schedules sports officials; develops and distributes sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.Assists in Purchasing and distributing team uniforms and awards; coordinates and distributes team photographs.Organizes and hosts season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.Organizes and conducts sports clinics.Demonstrates and explains techniques for proper play.Motivates and helps students perform exercises and drills to standard.Assists in the marketing and distribution of sports program information, may organize and schedule program registrations. May review and process program scholarship applications.Assists with Program Committee meetings.Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.Assists the Youth Sports Director or Program Director.Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.Ensures all program participants are safe and follow all rules and regulations set in place by the YMCA of Metropolitan Columbus, GA. Report any unsafe acts. Be familiar with handling problems & incidents and procedures for reporting problems and incidents.Abides by all YMCA Policies, Procedures, Guidelines and Standards.Provides an enjoyable experience for each child.Sets a good example in promptness, manners, language, loyalty, appearance and good habits.Sets a good example in respect and care of the YMCA organization, facilities, equipment and property at all times.Treats everyone, including children, with dignity and respect, displays Professionalism at all times.Never assumes anything as it relates to staff, children or parents.Attends all meetings and trainings as required.Other duties as assigned.YMCA COMPETENCIES (Leader)Mission Advancement: Models and teaches the Ys values. Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills required to perform well; uses best practices and demonstrates up-to-date knowledge and skills in technology.QUALIFICATIONSOne to two years related experience preferred.Basic knowledge and understanding of T-Ball, Soccer, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Pickleball or other programs as assigned.MUST have a high level of patience & tolerance, and be able to work well with all age groups, including small children.A warm and friendly personality, be sensitive to the feelings and needs of others and be willing to fulfill responsibilities in accordance with program goals.Ability to adapt to changing needs and circumstances.Good communication skills.Minimum age requirements may apply.Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.Ability to follow directions well.Good math skills, reading skills and computer skills preferred.CPR, AED, and First Aid Certifications are required within 30 days of hire.
