Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston seeks an energetic youth sports assistant to support program delivery for children, parents and staff. You will help run practices, games and events while upholding the YMCA core values of honesty, respect, responsibility, caring, and faith.

This role emphasizes safety, positive guidance, and strong communication. The position requires a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends, with prior childcare or sports-related experience preferred.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid and AED within 30 days of hire.
• Strong oral, auditory and written communication skills.
• Desire to work with children in a positive, patient manner.
• Basic knowledge of sports.
• Flexible schedule including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Promotes YMCA core values and character development in all activities.
• Interact with participants and provide feedback during games.
• Monitor play to ensure safety and compliance with sports rules.
• Prepare playing areas to ensure safety for all participants.
• Greet and communicate with parents and staff in a respectful manner.
• Attend staff meetings and training sessions as requested.
• Support in YMCA campaigns, events and daily program duties.
