Job summary

LifeWorks Austin, TX is seeking a Training and Compliance Coordinator to join our Emergency Shelter team. This full-time, exempt role oversees staff training, quality control, and compliance with state and agency requirements, scheduling and evaluating trainings, onboarding, and policy development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social or behavioral sciences or administrative field.
• Minimum of 2 years related experience; equivalent combination accepted.
• Experience in training, coaching, supervising, or mentoring staff preferred.
• Knowledge of trauma-informed care and strengths-based practices.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; ability to manage multiple trainings and onboarding processes.
• Familiarity with DFPS/HHSC licensing and regulatory training requirements for residential programs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, schedule, and facilitate required training for all emergency shelter staff in accordance with DFPS, HHSC, regulatory, and agency requirements.
• Facilitate Handle With Care training, including de-escalation and intervention techniques.
• Coordinate trauma-informed trainings such as Trauma-Informed Care, TBRI, ACEs, professional boundaries, and youth development.
• Conduct new employee onboarding and ensure training, certifications, and documentation are completed before staff work with youth.
• Provide ongoing refresher training and professional development based on identified needs and regulatory changes.
• Monitor staff fidelity to the agency’s treatment model and provide coaching and corrective training as needed.
• Conduct regular quality control reviews to identify gaps in practice, documentation, safety procedures, and program implementation.
• Assist with development of corrective action and performance improvement plans when standards are not met.
• Collaborate with Program Managers and leadership to identify training needs and ensure policy consistency.
• Assist with licensing reviews, audits, and inspections by ensuring training and QA documentation is complete.
• Participate in staff meetings and program activities to support communication and continuous quality improvement.
• Maintain confidentiality and protect youth, family, and staff privacy as required by policy and law.
• Perform other duties to support safe, effective, and compliant operation of the shelter.
