Wisconsin Community Services in Milwaukee is seeking a Youth Care Worker for the Youth Shelter Program. This role offers weekend coverage in a supportive, trauma‑informed environment, focusing on safety, daily activities, and mentoring youth aged 12–17.

The position requires at least two years of experience with youth, a high school diploma or GED, and completion of background checks; a valid driver’s license is required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years’ experience with youth roughly ages 12–17.
• High school diploma or GED/HSED required.
• Must pass reference, criminal, and caregiver background checks; valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct support to youth in shelter to ensure safety and well‑being.
• Supervise youth at all times; note: no supervision on cameras.
• Assist with activities of daily living including hygiene, meals, and recreation.
• Monitor behavior and apply positive behavior strategies.
• Maintain communication with staff during shifts.
• Support individual care plans including medication administration and health monitoring.
• Document care in EMR and keep case files up to date.
• Facilitate conflict resolution and de‑escalation to maintain a calm environment.
• Perform light cleaning to keep spaces safe and welcoming.
