Job summary

Charleston County Public Library is seeking a Children’s Services and Circulation Library Associate to assist patrons, shelve materials, answer reference questions and support programs for children from birth to grade 5. The role includes creating displays, planning STEAM activities, crafts and puppet shows, and engaging with the community.

The candidate should have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work a five-day schedule, including evenings and weekends, in a full-time role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED or higher.
• Associate degree with library experience preferred or Bachelor’s degree.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning and implementing children’s activities and STEAM programs.
• Create children’s displays, crafts and puppet shows.
• Assist children and caregivers in using library resources and technology.
• Shelve books, maintain neatness in the Children’s department, and assist with desk duties.
• Represent the library at external events and provide excellent customer service.
