Job summary

South Carolina State Library is seeking a proactive Youth Services Librarian to plan, coordinate and implement literacy and technology programs for youth. You will provide reference assistance, promote services, and build educational partnerships within the community.

The role requires an MLIS/MLS (ALA-accredited) and 3–5 years of professional library experience, with duties including outreach, collection development, and serving as Manager on Duty when needed.

Qualifications

• Minimum Education - ALA accredited MLIS/MLS degree.
• 3-5 years of professional library experience preferred.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and Sundays.

Responsibilities

• Plan, implement, and evaluate literacy and technology programs for youths.
• Evaluate and manage library collections; support outreach and reference services.
• Promote library services and form community partnerships.
• Serve on system and program committees; participate in collection development.
• Act as Manager on Duty and supervise volunteers and staff as needed.
• Prepare reports and analyze data to guide program improvements.
