Job summary

Charleston County Public Library is seeking a part-time Teen Services and Circulation Library Assistant to support the Teen Services room, assist with reference, and help with outreach programming. Responsibilities include helping teens with resources and technology, checking out materials, shelving, and providing excellent service to the public.

The role requires a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends, and a strong focus on customer service and teamwork within the library setting.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or GED.
• 2-years library experience preferred; OR Associates degree or higher.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
• Must be proficient in Microsoft Office suite, with the ability to learn and use new methods and emerging technical advances.
• Must possess excellent customer service skills, ability to get along well with others and to communicate effectively with the public and with library staff, a strong work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Assist teens and tweens in the use of library resources, technology, and gaming equipment inside the Teen Services room.
• Assist patrons with locating resources and checking out materials.
• Shelving library materials and maintaining collections.
• Provide technology assistance and demonstrations to patrons.
