Job summary

Missouri Division of Youth Services is hiring a Youth Services Worker to help create a safe, therapeutic environment for youth in day treatment and residential programs.

The role requires empathy, clear communication, and the ability to supervise, transport, and administer care, including CPR in emergencies. Evening, overnight, or daytime shifts are required, with benefits and a competitive rate described in the posting.

Qualifications

• Sixty or more earned credit hours from an accredited college or university with a minimum of six earned credit hours in one or a combination of the following: Counseling, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Sociology, or Social Work.
• OR 2-4 years of relevant experience. Earned credit hours may substitute for up to three years at a rate of 30 credit hours per year.
• Special Requirement: Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Provide Awareness Supervision to youth, with responsibility for their personal conduct, care, and therapy.
• Monitor activity, behavior, and movement of youth in residential/day treatment settings or during escorts.
• Maintain security, including intervention and/or participate in physical restraints during emergencies.
• Supervise youth during activities and inspect for health and safety hazards.
• Assist youth with personal issues and refer to group sessions as needed.
• Implement group and individual treatment plans.
• Maintain professional boundaries and interact positively with youth, families, staff, and the public.
• Prepare reports on client adjustment and progress; maintain youth records.
• Dispense medications to youth and respond to medical emergencies including CPR.
• Transport and escort youth in everyday and emergency situations.
• Work on shifts including evening, overnight, or daytime hours; log hours and report absences.
