Job summary

Fort Bend County's George Memorial Library is seeking a Part-time Library Assistant to support Youth Services. You will assist at reference desks, help patrons use public computers and access databases, and participate in children's programming.

You will complete shelf-reading, process books and AV, attend training, and stay familiar with the library's online resources. The role requires high school diploma and some college credits, plus strong communication and physical ability to lift up to 25

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and 48 college credits; experience with children in groups preferred.
• Typing and keyboarding skills; basic computer skills with internet and database searching.
• Good communication skills and ability to interact easily with staff and public.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and lift library materials up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist the full-time staff at one of the library’s reference desks.
• Provide answers to reference questions and refer complex queries to full-time staff.
• Help patrons use public computers to access the catalog, accounts, Internet and databases.
• Assist in programming for children and at the circulation desk; shelf-reading duties.
