Job summary

Fort Bend County is seeking a Part-time Library Assistant in Youth Services at Mission Bend Library to support reference desks and help patrons with the catalog, databases, and internet access.

The role involves assisting children, shelving, processing books/AV, and attending ongoing training. Primary duties include helping at reference desks and providing friendly service to staff and the public.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma and 48 college credit hours.
• Experience with children in groups preferred.
• Typing/keyboarding skills and basic computer skills.
• Good communication and people skills; able to interact with staff and the public.
• Ability to lift library materials up to 25 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist at the library reference desks and answer questions; refer complex questions to full-time staff.
• Help patrons use public computers, access the catalog, and databases.
• Assist with programming for children and with circulation desk duties.
• Attend reference training and ongoing educational programs.
• Complete shelf-reading duties and processing of books and AV materials.
