Job summary

The City of Abilene's North Branch is seeking a Youth Services Librarian to oversee youth programming from birth to 18 years old. This role develops age-appropriate programs, coordinates outside events, and provides readers’ advisory and reference services to children, parents, and teachers.

The position requires a MLS/MLIS from an ALA-accredited program, a Texas driver’s license, and willingness to travel to other branches.

Qualifications

• Principles and practices of contemporary library operations.
• Readers’ advisory for juvenile materials and learning styles.
• Online databases and current technologies for statistics and resources.

Responsibilities

• Develop and conduct programs for children from birth through eighteen (18) years of age.
• Provide reference and individual reader’s advisory guidance to children, parents, teachers, and others interested in library resources.
• Compile, prepare, and maintain reports, records, and statistics; submit monthly activity reports.
• Travel to other branches and outside locations for programs; perform outreach as needed.
