Job summary

Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians in Michigan is seeking a Student Services Assistant to support the Youth Services Coordinator in delivering academic, cultural, and recreational activities for Native American youth from preschool through 12th grade.

You will reinforce learning, assist with homework, help organize events, monitor participants, and collaborate with families and teachers while maintaining records and safety standards; evening and weekend availability is expected.

Qualifications

• Education: High School diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or technical certification preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one year working with youth.
• Certification/License: Background check required; Chauffeur's License within 60 days; valid driver’s license and insurability; compliance with Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
• Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Proficient in word processing and spreadsheets; strong math, English, and reading skills; excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; ability to maintain confidentiality; Native American preference.

Responsibilities

• Assist with developing program activities, recognition events, and recruitment of participants.
• Participate in Youth Education and Activities (YEA) Program activities and supervise groups.
• Monitor participants and enforce program policies and procedures.
• Assist in teaching rules, techniques, and skills of educational, cultural, and recreational activities.
• Organize supplies and maintain participant records and progress reports.
• Transport participants in company vehicles and support incentive activities.
