Police Athletic League, Inc. seeks a part-time Security Guard to help create safe spaces for youth during after-school programs. The role involves patrolling facilities, monitoring access, and following PAL security procedures under the direction of center directors.

The ideal candidate has a NYS Security Guard License, related certifications, and strong communication skills. The position is located at Webster Center - Bronx, with orientation before programming begins and ongoing staff

Qualifikationen

• Minimum High School Diploma or GED.
• New York State Security Guard License required.
• S-95 FDNY Certificate of Fitness and F-02 Fire Guard for Shelters certificate. If not already held, both must be obtained within 90 days of employment.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Firm and friendly tone with welcoming security.
• Strong situational awareness and ability to identify early signs of unsafe behavior.
• Skilled in verbal de-escalation, redirection, and conflict resolution.
• Able to build positive rapport with diverse youth, families, and community members.

Aufgaben

• Monitor common areas for safety and walk hallways, gym, stairwells, and outdoor spaces.
• Monitor entry and exit points and security cameras to ensure only authorized access.
• De-escalate conflicts and escalate unresolved issues to supervisors.
• Respond to time-sensitive mental health situations in line with PAL policies.
• Maintain clear, factual incident documentation.
• Participate in emergency procedures such as drills, evacuations, and lockdowns.
• Engage with community members and maintain open communication with caretakers.
• Attend required trainings, meetings, and staff events.
