Job summary

Legacy Treatment Services is looking for a Direct Support Professional (DSP) to work in a residential setting with adolescents who have intellectual and developmental disabilities. The role focuses on building trust, teaching daily living skills, and promoting independence through a structured Behavior Support Plan.

The DSP will accompany youth to activities, assist with personal care, and use positive reinforcement and crisis de-escalation to support successful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or High School Diploma/GED with 3+ years working with children/adolescents.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Must pass mandated trainings including Crisis Management, CPR, and First Aid.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting relationships and mentor youth.
• Promote positive decision-making and independence.
• Assist with daily living skills (bathing, feeding, grooming).
• Accompany to school activities, appointments, and community outings.
• Support with medication administration as needed.
• Provide crisis de-escalation and positive reinforcement.
• Participate in recreational activities with youth.
• Ensure safety and act as a positive role model.
