Job summary

The State of Georgia is hiring a Recreation Supervisor for the Metro RYDC in Atlanta, GA. Under general supervision, you will lead and train youth in an evidence-based recreation program, plan schedules, and ensure quality leisure activities aligned with DJJ policies.

Responsibilities include supervising part-time staff, coordinating supplies, maintaining records, and supporting PBIS events. A relevant associate or vocational degree plus experience working with youth in secure settings is

Qualifications

• Associate degree in area of assignment from an accredited college or university; or one (1) year of experience required at the lower level Practical Instructor 1 (EDT010) or position equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Instructs youth in an evidence-based recreation program.
• Plans and coordinates a comprehensive evidence-based program for the facility population.
• Supervises the part-time recreation workers.
• Maintains daily records of service delivery in a recreation and leisure log book.
• Identifies staff development and training needs and ensures that training is provided.
• Coordinates activities by scheduling work assignments, setting priorities and directing the work of the Recreation Worker (if applicable).
• Oversees the recreation and leisure program to ensure compliance with DJJ policies.
• Develops monthly and out-of-school recreation and leisure schedules.
• Assists with facility accreditation process in the area of recreation services (when applicable).
