Job summary

City of Edinburg is seeking a Recreation Program Instructor to run indoor/outdoor youth activities (ages 6-17) and support community recreation events, while ensuring participant safety and program quality. The role may involve supervising others and coordinating with the Recreation Supervisor and staff.

Responsibilities include registrations, facility checks, event support, and collaboration with team members. CPR/First Aid and a valid Class C license are required or pursued as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work well with youth and the public.
• Ability to understand and follow instructions and directions.
• Good public relations ability and teamwork.
• Familiarity with city rules/regulations and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and organize registrations, supplies and special events.
• Maintain facilities and monitor park and building for safety.
• Attend in services, and weekly staff meetings.
• Assist in implementation of Community Recreation Programs.
• Assist in team sports practices and tournaments.
• Assist in implementing special events.
• Perform physical and manual work.
• Plan and coordinate activities with supervisor and co-workers.
• Prepare for and attend staff meetings as needed.
• Must assist other staff as assigned.
• Implement programs assigned.
• Familiarize self with equipment operations and safety procedures.
• Adhere to city policies and rules.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
