Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois is seeking an Activity Specialist to mentor and lead youth ages 6–18. You will support development assets through engaging activities, ensure safety, and help implement programs aligned with the club’s mission.

Responsibilities include coordinating with supervisors, planning activities, and fostering positive relations with members, parents, and staff. A dynamic, energetic approach and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of youth development; ability to motivate and provide guidance to youth through establishing positive relationships with youth Members; demonstrated caring and respect exhibited toward Members.
• Ability to relate to the general public, parents and BGCCIL Members in a friendly, positive, and professional manner.

Responsibilities

• Supervisory Role: Establish and maintain communication links between members, Activity Specialists and Central Unit Director.
• Plan and oversee the administration of designated programs and activities that support youth development outcomes.
• Exercise authority in relating to members.
• Oversee proper record keeping by Activity Specialists.
• Serve as a “floater” in the event of Activity Specialist absence and assist with other duties as assigned.
• Prepare Youth for Success by building positive relationships and guiding youth.
• Implement activities with high energy to attract participation.
• Support youth in following Club Rules and maintaining discipline.
• Implement and assist with planning, evaluating programming and curriculum.
• Maintain order and safety in the club environment.
• Daily duties include opening/closing procedures, student assignments, recruitment, and attendance tracking.
• Essential working relationships include collaboration with staff and volunteers.
• Publicize the club to increase awareness and support.
