Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs of Central Illinois in Springfield, IL seeks an Activity Specialist to mentor and guide youth ages 6–18. You will lead engaging activities, build positive relationships, and help youth develop academic, health, and character skills.

You will support safety, implement programming, and motivate members daily while collaborating with staff and volunteers to maintain a welcoming club environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Knowledge of youth development and ability to motivate youth.
• Ability to relate to the public, parents and Members in a professional manner.
• Ability to organize and supervise Members to maintain a safe, welcoming environment.
• Valid Illinois Driver's License and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare Youth for Success by building positive relationships with Members.
• Implement engaging activities with high energy to maximize participation.
• Provide guidance, mentoring and role modeling to Members.
• Address discipline fairly, firmly, consistently and kindly.
• Maintain confidentiality of Members, employees and information.
• Ensure safety and order in the program area and during activities.
• Assist with planning, evaluating programming and curriculum.
• Recruit and engage youth in activities and track participation.
