Job summary

The Alameda Boys & Girls Club is seeking an Assistant Program Director to provide active leadership and support to staff, youth, and families in a trauma-sensitive setting. This hands-on role, supervised by the Program Director, requires regular walking and standing during program hours and serves as on-site supervisor when the Director is absent.

Responsibilities include overseeing daily operations, safety, and risk management; coordinating programs and events; directing opening/closing tasks;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.
• 3+ years of experience in youth development or related field.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Demonstrated ability to organize, direct, plan and coordinate operations.
• Leadership, problem solving, decision making and delegation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily program operations, safety and risk management, plus staff and volunteer management.
• Run youth programming when additional support is needed and supervise on-site when the Director is absent.
• Direct opening/closing tasks and monitor member safety with incident reporting.
• Plan curriculum and seasonal camps; coordinate special programs or events.
• Lead staff trainings, recruit/train new hires, and communicate with parents on ongoing items.
• Foster positive relationships with youth and families; model professional conduct.
