Job summary

Boys & Girls Clubs Of Thurston County is seeking a Youth Development Professional to engage kids with safe, interactive programs and positive relationships. The role delivers hands-on activities across clubs, including arts, education, gym, tech lab, and outdoors, with a focus on creating an energetic, supportive environment for K–5 students.

The YDP works with staff and parents, communicates clearly, and de-escalates situations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED (or current enrollment).
• Experience working with youth, parents/guardians and community partners.
• Experience working in a team environment.
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
• Ability to de-escalate problems and solve day-to-day issues.
• Ability to manage groups of children across activities.
• CPR and First Aid certifications required (pre-employment process).
• Must pass local and national background checks and drug screening.

Responsibilities

• Plan and supervise activities in various program areas.
• Deliver age-appropriate programs for K-5 students; Teen Center coverage as needed.
• Supervise to maintain a safe, positive environment.
• Foster a positive Club culture with high energy and teamwork.
• Promote daily program participation.
• Maintain relationships with parents, staff and visitors.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings; assist at front desk as needed.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
