Job summary

Crossroads YMCA in Schererville, IN seeks a Youth & Family Coordinator to help run programs, supervise staff, and foster safe, engaging experiences for children and families. Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of related experience.
• Experience with children of diverse ages and cultures.
• CPR Pro certification required within 30 days of hire.
• Must complete a set of trainings within 30 days of hire including: Pulse Access, Keeping your YMCA Safe, The Y & You orientation, I Hear You Service with Care, Advancing Equity, Y’s Way to Service & Engagement, Y’s Cause & Culture, Foundations, Listen First, and Preventing Bullying.
• Must complete Service Standards training within 60 days of hire.
• Must complete 5 hours of additional training annually (ILead, Playworks, webinars in child-based learning).
• Must have earned 10 continuing education credits.
• Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups from all social/economic backgrounds.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Able to work independently and with minimal supervision; organized and detail oriented.
• Adept Office 365 skills.
• Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.

Responsibilities

• Perform office tasks such as filing, copying, record-keeping, and payroll completion.
• Assist Director in training and supervising program staff and volunteers.
• Provide a nurturing atmosphere and ensure participant safety.
• Onboard new children and families to programs.
• Maintain teacher-to-student ratios during programs.
• Monitor and maintain equipment through scheduled maintenance.
• Develop relationships with parents and respond to inquiries/complaints promptly.
• Adhere to YMCA policies and procedures.
• Provide shift supervision and spend 80% time in direct service.
• Assist in recruiting, hiring, training, and development of staff.
• Conduct team feedback, corrective actions, and evaluations.
• Schedule and process payroll functions.
• Support community campaigns and donor engagement.
• Model relationship-building using Listen First.
