Job summary

Crossroads YMCA is seeking a part-time Before & After School Care Instructor in Griffith, IN. You will supervise school-age children before and after school, plan activities, assist with homework, and foster a safe, engaging environment.

Responsibilities include supervising groups, leading games and crafts, supporting positive social interactions, and ensuring proper sign-in/out and adherence to policies. Ideal candidates are energetic, reliable, and dedicated to youth development.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Previous experience with children is preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively with children, parents, coworkers, and school staff.
• Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
• Willingness to complete orientation, safety CPR/First Aid, and ongoing training.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage groups of school-age children before and after school.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate games, crafts, STEM activities, outdoor play, and enrichment experiences.
• Assist children with homework and encourage positive social interactions.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, school staff, and coworkers.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and welcoming environment while following all program policies and licensing requirements.
