Job summary

The Salvation Army Northwest Division in Washington, DC seeks a Youth Program Lead to help oversee youth and volunteers in the Children’s Church and Youth Programs, including after‑school and Summer Day Camp activities.

The role requires a ministry mindset and the ability to work well with staff and volunteers. Regular full‑time, non‑exempt position with driving responsibilities as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old
• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree or experience preferred
• Minimum of 2 years in youth work, programming, or teen development
• Valid First Aid CPR/AED certificate
• Must pass TSA MVR checks and have a valid driving license
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations
• Ability to work with limited supervision and as part of a team
• Fluency in English for communicating with volunteers and children

Responsibilities

• Maintain clean classrooms, gym, and all program areas
• Plan and lead Sunday Children’s Church and Youth Programs
• Coordinate after-school and summer programs and transportation
• Complete and submit youth reports and statistics on time
• Provide administrative support to department heads
• Promote safety policies and youth protection procedures
• Drive as needed for programs and kettle routes
• Attend staff and council meetings and trainings
