Job summary

Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Plains is hiring a Youth Development Professional to guide and supervise youth in after-school and summer programs. You will mentor youth, design engaging activities, and promote safe, positive environments that support social development.

The role emphasizes relationship-building, behavior modeling, and collaboration with staff to meet trimester goals and improve program quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Commitment to four days per week and summer scheduling.
• Ability to adapt to school-year and summer program hours.
• Understand and apply behavior management principles in youth settings.
• Commitment to safety, fun, and supportive relationships.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules and model positive behavior as a mentor to youth.
• Oversee recreation areas, safety equipment, and facility cleanliness.
• Organize daily activities: games, fitness, arts and crafts, music.
• Encourage participation and healthy relationships among members.
• Assess group dynamics and collaborate to plan outcomes like confidence.
• Manage paperwork, incident reports, and activity assessments as needed.
• Foster teamwork and lead activities promoting responsibility.
• Ensure all activities follow club policies and safety.
• Maintain youth safety and security in the facility.
• Attend required staff meetings and participate in planning.
• Support supervisor in trimester goals and provide daily feedback.
