Job summary

The Boys and Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Brookings seeks a Lead Youth Development Professional to guide daily youth programming and ensure a safe, positive Club environment. This role provides direct supervision of youth and coaching for Youth Development Professionals.

The position is part-time and non-exempt, with responsibilities including program planning, behavior support, and collaboration with the program team to help members grow confidence, leadership, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent is required.
• CPR certification or the ability to obtain it within 90 days of employment; training provided.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, implementation, and evaluation of daily programs, activities, and events.
• Encourage member engagement, belonging, and healthy peer relationships.
• Maintain active supervision of youth and uphold safety standards and policies.
• Ensure spaces are clean, welcoming, and safe for all members.
• Provide feedback to Youth Development Professionals and volunteers.
• Model positive interactions and Club values.
• Maintain open communication with supervisors and staff.
• Facilitate activities that build confidence, social skills, leadership, and teamwork.
• Encourage fair play, respect, and positive decision-making.
• Complete required documentation (attendance, incidents, assessments).
• Monitor equipment and space usage; report needs promptly.
• Attend all required staff meetings.
