Job summary

Police Athletic League, Inc. in New York City seeks a Content Specialist to elevate PAL’s out-of-school programming across SEL, literacy, STEM, arts, and college readiness.

The role participates in leadership and collaborates with site staff to deliver PAL curricula for elementary to high school youth. The position is part-time (9 hours/week), based at PS 9 and other PAL NYC locations, with opportunities for growth and professional development within PAL’s youth programs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field required; Master’s preferred.
• Minimum 2 years in curriculum development, observation, training or coaching, and supervision.
• Willingness to learn mental health, SEL, and inclusion skills and integrate into programming.
• Available for training outside program hours.
• Bilingual in Spanish, French, or Chinese preferred.
• Microsoft Office skills required.
• Willing to travel to PAL locations for professional development days.
• Part-time schedule: 9 hours/week (3 days, 3 hours each, 3:00–6:00).

Responsibilities

• Foster social and emotional competencies and wellbeing in a safe, inclusive environment.
• Learn PAL curricula and provide turnkey training to Part-Time staff.
• Provide professional development on classroom management and facilitation.
• Observe program delivery and coach staff with feedback.
• Coordinate with NYCPS partners to align programs and support students with IEPs and mental health referrals.
• Support implementation of PAL’s strategic objectives and funding requirements.
• Develop a strong youth development culture across the Center.
• Collaborate with leadership to grow creative programming opportunities.
• Collect data and provide data-driven recommendations.
• Provide mediation and troubleshooting.
