Job summary

Windham Public Schools is seeking a Program Assistant to support daily operations of the after-school program. You will assist providers and teachers during student arrival and help with transitions, as well as monitor activities and student engagement.

In this role you will coordinate with staff and volunteers, maintain supply inventories, and report concerns promptly while helping to strengthen family and community partnerships. The position requires energy and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with school-aged children preferred.
• Ability to be physically active and engage youth.
• Experience in urban settings and diverse populations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support program providers and teachers during student arrival time.
• Maintain communication and coordination among staff and volunteers.
• Maintain inventory of program supplies and materials.
• Facilitate transitions during program hours.
• Observe programming and record student response.
• Reinforce homework policy by visiting classrooms and ensuring homework/reading.
• Foster development of family and community partnerships during programming hours.
• Relay and report student or parent concerns in a timely manner.
• Complete other tasks as assigned by site coordinators.
