Job summary

Windham Public Schools is seeking a Program Assistant for its Family & Community Engagement/Before/After School Program. The role involves facilitating day-to-day tasks, assisting program providers and teachers during student arrival, coordinating staff and volunteers, and supporting homework or reading time.

The ideal candidate will be able to stay active with youth, communicate effectively with families, and adapt to a fast-paced environment in an urban setting.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with school aged children preferred.
• Able to be physically active with and engage youth.
• Experience with urban settings and diverse populations.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Support program providers and teachers during student arrival time.
• Maintain communication and coordination among all staff and volunteers.
• Maintain an inventory of program supplies and materials.
• Facilitate transitions during program hours.
• Observe programming and record student response.
• Reinforce homework or reading time in classrooms.
• Foster family and community partnerships during programming hours.
• Relay and report any student or parent concerns promptly.
• Complete all other tasks as assigned by site coordinators.
