Job summary

A community support organization is seeking a Program Assistant to implement after-school programming at middle school sites in collaboration with local school districts. Program Assistant to implement after-school programming at our school-based middle school sites in collaboration with the Patchogue Medford, William Floyd & Riverhead School Districts. Must have at least one year of working with youth/adolescents. Spanish Speaking Preferred.

Major Responsibilities

• Work cooperatively with the Project Coordinator to develop and implement the after-school program for at-risk students.
• Assist with supervision of students.
• Assist with program logistics, discipline, and general organization.
• Maintain records as required.
• Assist with data entry.
• Develop program lessons and activities.
• Assist with maintaining program supplies.
• Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted, or changed at the discretion of management and administration formally or informally, either verbally or in writing.

Qualifications

• Ability to work as part of a team with co-workers and with other colleagues as necessary.
• Cultural sensitivity and the ability to relate/work with diverse groups, community agencies, schools, and the public.
• Strong organizational skills with a focus on detail.
• Ability to follow directions, and communicate well (orally and in writing).

Education/Training/Experience

High School Diploma and relevant experience working with adolescents.

One year of experience working with youth. (i.e. summer camp, coaching, tutoring...)

Requirements

• A Valid Driver's License and Insured Vehicle.
• PPD (TB test required with proof of results; no more than 1 year old)
