Job summary

Skagit Valley Family YMCA Mount Vernon is seeking a part-time youth teacher for the School Age Youth program to create a positive learning environment for children aged 5-12. You will support educational activities, promote self-esteem, belonging, and safe behavior.

Qualifications include being 18+ with a high school diploma, experience with children, and required trainings. The role offers daily variety, community impact, and YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children 5-12 years old preferred.
• Child development knowledge and experience required.
• TB test, HIV/AIDS/BBP awareness, and Food Handler’s Permit required before start.
• First Aid, Pediatric CPR/AED, Child Abuse and Mandatory Reporting training, and DCYF background clearance within 30 days.
• Complete STARS basic 30-hour training or exemption within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develop a positive environment for children, parents, and staff.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental needs of children and families.
• Be a positive role model demonstrates good judgment, and abide by program rules.
• Supervise and assure proper safety for a group of children.
