Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a part-time, on-site Youth Program Instructor in Sammamish to create a safe, welcoming environment for participants of varied ages and abilities. You will lead sports, recreation, and wellness activities and ensure a positive experience for families.

Responsibilities include delivering YMCA-guided programming, assisting with new activities, and enforcing safety policies. Requires first-aid and CPR certifications, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• At least 16 years of age or older.
• Six months or more previous experience working with children (camps, child care, tutoring, nanny, coaching).
• Current state approved first-aid certification.
• Current state approved CPR certification.
• Knowledge of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate practices.
• Within 90 days of start date.

Responsibilities

• Instruct programs as assigned in accordance with YMCA guidelines.
• May assist in the development of programming.
• Follow YMCA policies and procedures including medical and disciplinary procedures, child abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
• Increase participant awareness of whole person health.
• Set up and take down class equipment and report needs to supervisor.
• Maintain related records accurately.
• Convey information on YMCA programs and schedules to members and guide them to other programs when appropriate.
• Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
