Job summary

The Skagit Valley Family Ymca seeks a part-time teacher for the Skagit YMCA School Age Youth program at Centennial Elementary School, Mount Vernon, WA. You will create meaningful learning experiences that foster self-esteem, belonging, and educational achievement, while building strong relationships with children and families.

Responsibilities include developing a positive environment, understanding developmental needs, being a positive role model, and supervising children to ensure safety.

Qualifications

• Must be 18+ with a high school diploma or GED.
• Experience with children aged 5–12 preferred.
• TB test, HIV/BBP awareness, and Food Handler permit required before start.
• First Aid, Pediatric CPR/AED, and background clearance within 30 days of hire.
• Complete STARS 30-hour training or educational exemption within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develop a positive environment for children, parents, and staff.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental needs of children and families.
• Be a positive role model demonstrates good judgment, and abide by program rules.
• Supervise and assure proper safety for a group of children.
