The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Elkton, SD seeks a Lead Youth Development Professional to create a safe, engaging environment for K-5th graders. You will plan age-appropriate activities, guide learning experiences, and support developmental milestones.

Responsibilities include leading weekly plans, supervising staff, maintaining safety, communicating with families, and collaborating with teachers and admin. This role emphasizes equity, excellence, and hands-on youth development.

Competenze

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Experience working with youth is essential.
• Strong communication, patience and creativity are needed.
• Management or supervisory experience is preferred.
• Commitment to full weekly schedule during school year and summer.
• Ability to align with club trainings and values of fun, supportive relationships, recognition and safety.

• Create weekly programming plans promoting education, creativity and social skills for K-5.
• Ensure safety and inclusivity; supervise activities, meals and playtime.
• Guide behavior with positive reinforcement and developmentally appropriate strategies.
• Develop problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills through a youth success plan.
• Communicate with parents/guardians about child progress and concerns.
• Open/close program space and maintain a clean, orderly classroom.
• Collaborate with staff to ensure a cohesive program.

• Assist with interviewing, hiring and disciplining staff as assigned.
• Supervise employees; conduct 60-day reviews and set performance plans.
• Build relationships with parents via phone and emails; daily communication.
• Assist with budget tracking for programming and build reports as needed.

• Attend monthly all-staff trainings and perform other duties as assigned.
