Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Elkton is seeking a Lead Youth Development Professional to create a safe, engaging environment for K-5th grade students. You will plan activities, guide learning experiences, and support developmental milestones.

Responsibilities include weekly programming, supervision, parent communication, staff leadership, and collaboration with school staff to deliver an inclusive, high-quality program. This role is part-time and non-exempt.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience working with youth.
• Strong communication, patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
• Management/Supervisory experience.
• Commitment to five days a week during the school year and summer.
• Ability to work within school year operating hours.
• Ability to work within summer operating hours.
• Ability to understand, implement, and demonstrate behavior management principles.
• Ability to provide leadership and constructive feedback to staff.

Responsibilities

• Create weekly programming plans for continued education, creativity, and social skills for K-5th grade.
• Ensure safety and inclusivity; supervise activities, meals, and playtime.
• Use positive reinforcement and developmentally appropriate strategies.
• Develop problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills via a youth success plan.
• Communicate with parents about child progress and concerns.
• Open and close program spaces.
• Maintain a stimulating, clean, and orderly classroom with accessible materials.
• Collaborate with teachers, aides, and administrators for a cohesive program.
• Promote an inclusive environment respecting diverse backgrounds.
• Assist with interviewing, hiring, and disciplining Club employees.
• Supervise staff; write 60-day reviews, performance plans, and conduct one-on-ones.
• Build relationships with Club parents through calls and emails.
• Assist with budget tracking for programming.
• Build reports daily, weekly, and as needed.
• Uphold Club values: excellence, impact, teamwork, and good character.
• Attend Club trainings and monthly all-staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
