Job summary

The Boys & Girls Club of the Northern Plains in Elkton, SD is seeking a Youth Development Professional to be a positive role model, supporting and encouraging youth while designing activities that promote welfare and social learning. This role offers opportunities to expand knowledge in social work, behavioral studies, and management skills.

You will oversee daily recreation activities, enforce rules, and foster inclusive, supportive relationships, all while ensuring safety and alignment

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• Commitment to four days a week.
• Commitment to summer and school year hours.
• Ability to observe, interact with youth, and ensure safety.
• Understanding of behavior management principles.

Responsibilities

• Enforce rules, model positive behavior, and mentor youth.
• Oversee daily recreation area operations and safety equipment.
• Organize and facilitate games, fitness, arts and crafts, and music.
• Encourage participation and fair treatment of all members.
• Assess group dynamics and plan activities for relationship building and confidence.
• Complete paperwork, incident reports, progress evaluations, and assessments.
• Promote teamwork and leadership among participants.
