Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Eastern Territory is seeking a Group Leader II to support Corps Officers and Program Directors in managing the School-Age Child Care program. The role includes supervision, activity oversight, and staff leadership to ensure the welfare and development of children aged 5-13.

The ideal candidate is teachable, committed to ongoing professional development, and capable of leading peers. Availability aligns with program hours and includes collaboration with program leadership.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent; Some College preferred.
• 5 years experience in Youth or Camp Programming and/or group work.
• Leadership experience with peers or in leadership of organized programming.
• Current CPR & First Aid Certifications.
• Availability for the entire program hours (2:15–6 PM during school year; 8 AM–6 PM on school holidays and summer months).

Responsibilities

• Involvement in the total program with willingness to help in all areas as needed.
• Promote observance of the moral and ethical codes affecting participants and staff.
• Attend and contribute to Program Leadership & General Staff Meetings.
• Share with your immediate supervisor all matters of mutual concern relating to the total welfare of the Program.
• Complete Orientation Sessions and attend all parent meetings.
• Provide leadership and guidance of assigned campers and staff.
• Ensure health, cleanliness, welfare and happiness of all participants and staff under direct supervision.
• Maintain high interaction with participants and staff; contribute to health, harmony and happiness of the Brownsville Corps family.
• Coordinate daily assembly as assigned.
• Communicate with the Program Director for actions of staff that risk health and safety; report all incidents.
• Ability to communicate and work with groups of various ages and skill levels; provide necessary instruction.
• Identify and respond to emergency situations quickly and appropriately.
