Job summary

The Salvation Army in New York is seeking a Group Leader II to support Corps Officers and Program Directors in daily School-Age Child Care operations. You will assist with supervision of children and staff, coordinate activities, and ensure safety and welfare during program hours.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, 5 years in youth/camp programming, leadership experience, and CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent; Some College preferred.
5 years of experience in Youth or Camp Programming and/or group work.
Leadership experience with peers or in organized programming.
Current CPR & First Aid Certifications.
Availability for the program hours (2:15–6:00 PM on school days; 8:00 AM–6:00 PM during school holidays).

Responsibilities

Participate in all program areas as needed (dining, activities, behavioral guidance).
Promote and model the moral and ethical codes for participants and staff.
Attend Program Leadership & General Staff Meetings and report concerns to supervisor.
Lead and guide assigned campers and staff under supervision.
Ensure health, cleanliness, welfare, and happiness of participants and staff.
Coordinate daily assembly; communicate health/safety concerns to the Program Director.
Organize and supervise activities for ages 5–13 with proper use of supplies.
Submit lesson plans and coordinate with other activities as needed.
