Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required unless participating in YEP program.
• CPR/First Aid certification is required and will be provided.
• Must complete fingerprint background check, drug screening, mandated reporting, onboarding, and BGCA/BGCL training requirements.
• One to twelve months of experience with children is preferred.
• Must be able to work 2:00 pm–6:30 pm shifts August through May.

Responsibilities

• Create a safe, welcoming, and engaging environment that promotes positive youth development and encourages program participation.
• Plan and lead age-appropriate programs, services, and activities for youth in assigned program areas.
• Provide guidance, encouragement, and positive role modeling for youth individually and in groups.
• Use a warm, respectful, and consistent approach when interacting with youth, staff, families, and partners.
• Complete program lesson plans and rosters accurately and on time.
• Maintain active supervision of youth at all times and follow all safety procedures and organizational policies.
• Monitor spaces for safety concerns and report hazards promptly.
• Reinforce behavior expectations and report significant concerns or incidents.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, youth, families, and school personnel.
• Participate in staff meetings and required professional development.
• Maintain professional standards for attendance, punctuality, and conduct.
• Follow call-out procedures and minimize personal phone use during shifts.
• Assist with youth meals during summer camp or other program periods.
