Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Montgomery is seeking a Counselor for the Achievers-Gear Up program to supervise participants and lead educational, cultural, and recreational activities. You will plan weekly lesson plans, sports, crafts, and games; ensure participant safety; build positive relationships with parents and staff; attend mandatory trainings; and complete all required program documentation.

Education required is a high school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.
CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

Supervise and interact appropriately with all participants according to curriculum standards.
Plan, implement and participate in scheduled activities including weekly lesson plans, sports, games, crafts, etc.
Be responsible for the safety of program participants at all times.
Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, program participants and other staff.
Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
Complete all required documentation for the program.
Responsible for maintenance and care of equipment and supplies; help with housekeeping tasks.
