Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Montgomery is seeking a Counselor for the Achievers-Gear Up program to supervise participants and lead educational, cultural, and recreational activities. You will plan weekly lesson plans, sports, crafts, and games; ensure participant safety; build positive relationships with parents and staff; attend mandatory trainings; and complete all required program documentation.

Education required is a high school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1–3 months related experience.
• CPR and First Aid within 30 days of hire.
• Child Abuse Prevention and Bloodborne Pathogens within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and interact appropriately with all participants according to curriculum standards.
• Plan, implement and participate in scheduled activities including weekly lesson plans, sports, games, crafts, etc.
• Be responsible for the safety of program participants at all times.
• Establish and maintain positive relationships with parents, program participants and other staff.
• Attend all mandatory staff meetings and trainings.
• Complete all required documentation for the program.
• Responsible for maintenance and care of equipment and supplies; help with housekeeping tasks.

CPR and First Aid or within 30 days of hire Counselors are responsible for supervising participants while conducting educational, cultural, and recreational activities for Achievers-Gear Up program.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
