Job summary

Gateway Region YMCA in Belleville, IL, seeks a part-time Youth Program Assistant to provide a safe, high-quality experience for participants and lead youth in educational and recreational activities. You will work with staff, volunteers, and site administration while upholding YMCA policies and ensuring a positive environment for children.

Shifts include mornings and afternoons, with opportunities to support diverse program activities.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Must have 1 year experience working with infants, toddlers, preschool.

Responsibilities

• Provide a safe and high quality experience to participants.
• Lead youth in educational, recreational, or social activities according to program goals.
• Maintain positive relationships with staff, youth, volunteers and site administration.
• Ensure YMCA policies and guidelines are followed at all times.
• Provide safe conditions for children and refrain from hazardous or negligent activities.
• Supervise youth and apply appropriate discipline procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service by greeting parents and answering questions.
• Meet the individual needs of youth for proper program coordination.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
