Job summary

Nir Family YMCA seeks a Part-Time Childwatch Associate to support the YMCA’s youth programs in a safe, welcoming environment. You will supervise children, lead activities, and maintain cleanliness and safety while engaging families and volunteers.

Responsibilities include implementing age-appropriate activities, building positive relationships, and coordinating with staff to ensure a high-quality member experience. This role emphasizes safety and teamwork at the Nir Family YMCA.

Qualifications

• CPR & First Aid certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred – minimum age of 16 is required.
• Ability to implement and participate in age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities for the children in Child Watch.

Responsibilities

• Implements and participates in activities that develop youth within the established guidelines.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
• Supervises the children, program space, and all activities including following all procedures and standards.
• Maintains a healthy and safe environment for the participating children in Child Watch.
• Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents. Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Attends and participates in program activities, staff meetings and staff training.
• Disseminates concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Helps to promote other YMCA activities and programs.
• Maintains required safety practices (i.e., bathroom procedures, sign in /out procedures, etc.)
• Performs other duties as assigned.
