Job summary

YMCA of Southeastern North Carolina is seeking a Part-time Childwatch Associate at the NIR Family YMCA in Wilmington, NC. The role focuses on safe, nurturing care while guiding children through engaging activities and building belonging among youth and families.

Key duties include supervising children, partnering with parents, and maintaining a clean, safe program space. The position requires CPR/First Aid within 30 days and prior child-care experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• CPR & First Aid certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
• Experience working with children in developmental settings preferred; minimum age 16.
• Ability to implement age-appropriate program activities for children.
• Ability to build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities

• Implements and participates in activities that develop youth within guidelines.
• Nurtures children through purposeful programming to build achievement and belonging.
• Supervises children, space, and activities following procedures.
• Maintains a healthy and safe environment for children in Child Watch.
• Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
• Maintains program site and equipment and attends staff activities and training.
• Disseminates concerns to supervisor immediately.
• Promotes other YMCA activities and follows safety practices.
