Job summary

The Northfield Area Family YMCA is seeking a part-time Child Watch staff member in Northfield, MN. You will support youth programs, provide safe, engaging activities, and foster positive interactions between children and families.

You will work with the Program Director to maintain high-quality service, emphasize inclusion, and ensure safety during all activities. Prior experience in child care is preferred; CPR/First Aid certs are required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years of age.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in child care or youth programs for ages infant–age 9.
• Ability to interact comfortably with youth and parents at a fast pace.
• Ability to work with a diverse community.
• Ability to lead programs and participate in recreation activities.
• Enthusiasm, patience, creativity, common sense, and a commitment to working with children.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention certifications within 30 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Provides high quality customer service to all members, guests, and children in Child Watch.
• Builds authentic relationships with participants and parents; helps connect them with the YMCA.
• Assists Lead Staff by solving problems and responding to questions or concerns from members, staff, kids, or guests.
• Troubleshoots problems, handles incidents, and communicates clearly with supervisors and coworkers.
• Participates in day-to-day tasks with coworkers while following YMCA policies and procedures.
• Ensures professional presentation of equipment, curriculum, supplies, staff appearance, and locations.
• Tracks youth in the registration system and supports equity and inclusion initiatives.
