Job summary

The City of Grand Rapids seeks a supervisory recreation professional to oversee the GR Outside program, coordinating nature-based experiences, outdoor skills, camping trips and gear libraries for youth and schools. Responsibilities include directing staff, budgeting, and expanding partnerships across the city.

Qualifications include two years of college in recreation administration and at least two years of relevant leadership experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of college coursework in recreation administration or closely related field; a four-year degree is preferred.
• Two or more years of responsible experience as a recreation leader or administrator.
• Any equivalent combination of training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate recreation programs, classes and activities, including staffing, content, length and budget.
• Plan and direct partnerships with outside groups to expand youth nature access.
• Respond to participant questions, concerns and enrollment inquiries.
• Coordinate with administrative staff on scheduling, programs and enrollments.
• Develop performance metrics, KPIs and study trends to guide program development.
