Job summary

The Salvation Army USA Western Territory seeks a Youth Program Assistant to support youth, family, and outreach ministries at the El Cajon Corps and East County Red Shield. You will help develop programs that evangelize, disciple, and nurture spiritual growth while engaging participants in worship and community life.

The role involves coordinating youth activities, leading study groups, and supporting events, camps, and seasonal initiatives under corps leadership.

Qualifications

• Must be a committed Christian in agreement with The Salvation Army's mission, doctrine, and practices.
• High school diploma or GED; college coursework preferred.
• At least two years of youth ministry experience or working with youth; Salvation Army leadership preferred.
• Strong verbal and written communication; computer and social media proficiency.
• Ability to teach, lead by example, and work effectively as part of a team.
• Willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as needed.
• Must obtain a Food Handler's Card within 30 days.
• Must pass a criminal background check and remain current in Protecting the Mission training and child safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop, coordinate, and grow youth ministries that evangelize, disciple, and foster spiritual development.
• Plan, organize, and lead youth programs and activities including Bible studies, camps, retreats, and events.
• Conduct worship services, devotions, chapel programs, and other opportunities for spiritual growth.
• Build Christ-centered relationships with children, youth, families, volunteers, and program participants.
• Serve as a bridge between community programs, family services, and congregational ministries.
• Assist in planning and executing special events, outreach initiatives, and seasonal campaigns.
• Support administration and operation of Corps, Family Services, youth, and seasonal programs.
• Recruit, train, coordinate, and supervise volunteers.
• Assist with fundraising, grants, and campaigns supporting youth ministries.
• Maintain program, financial, and participant records; prepare reports as required.
