Job summary

The Salvation Army Southern California is seeking a Youth Center Program Assistant to support planning, coordinating, and implementing activities for children within the community center. You will work with staff to foster positive attitudes and Christian values, and ensure safe participation in all center activities.

Based at a Spokane facility, you may work evenings and weekends as needed, with responsibilities including tutoring support, safety enforcement, and program planning for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; early childhood education credits preferred.
• Childcare experience preferred.
• Ability to work with children in team settings and follow safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Supervise children and activities assigned.
• Provide leadership for recreational activities as assigned.
• Assist Youth Center children with schoolwork/tutoring needs.
• Enforce facility safety rules and procedures.
• Assist in Youth Center/After-School program planning.
• Participate in staff training and development programs.
• Collaborate with staff/volunteers to promote positive attitudes and values.
• Ensure safe participation and monitor facility security.
• Assist with care and maintenance of the facility and equipment.
• Complete Protect the Mission (PTM) training and maintain standards.
• Support after-school programming and family night events.
• Work nights and weekends as needed.
